Southbank Sinfonia is more than just an orchestra. On every project, as well as performing a wide range of repertoire, our players are discovering their creative strengths, learning new skills, setting personal goals, making lasting contacts, and taking their musicianship to new frontiers.
Central to the programme is a range of creative partnerships with leading performing arts organisations including the Royal Opera House, BBC Concert Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the National Theatre. These offer the players a wealth of opportunities, enabling them to play in an array of settings and acquire first-hand understanding of what it takes to be a thriving professional today. The professionals in turn enjoy the fresh energy and perspective that comes from working with Southbank Sinfonia’s young players.
Getting set for a career as a professional musician involves much more than just being a technically accomplished player. During the programme, we welcome key figures from the profession to share insights on essential matters such as health, finances, professionalism and marketing.
