THE RAKE’S PROGRESS
WILTON’S MUSIC HALL, LONDON

Stravinsky The Rake’s Progress

OperaGlass Works
Southbank Sinfonia
Laurence Cummings conductor
Trinity Laban chorus
Selina Cadell director

OperaGlass Works, led by Selina Cadell, premiere their first production, one of the great operas of the 20th century. Stravinsky’s collaboration with WH Auden and Chester Kallman was inspired by Hogarth’s paintings of a young man’s fall from grace.

As Tom Rakewell abandons true love for the excitement of the city he soon finds himself in the company of the devil. Set in the 18th century, using conventions of opera from that time, the story explores human choice and its limitations.

OperaGlass Works is committed to offering established singers a dynamic and creative approach to their work, in intimate spaces.
