British Youth Opera

This annual partnership enables Britain’s finest young singers to perform with an equally talented young orchestra, and the players can put skills developed in the Royal Opera House partnership directly into practice.

They become accustomed to an intensive rehearsal schedule for two concurrent opera productions and the subsequent performances at London’s Peacock Theatre give them a high-profile showcase to share their accomplishment.

Recent productions have included Britten’s Owen Wingrave and Malcolm Williamson’s English Eccentrics (2016) Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen, Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea and Holst’s Savitri (2015), Jonathan Dove’s The Little Green Swallow (2014), and Britten’s Paul Bunyan with Cimarosa’s The Secret Marriage (2013).
