Education & Outreach

SbS players are privileged to work with the best

In turn, they pass on their skills and passion for music to the next generation through outreach projects.

In 2009 alone over 1,000 school children across the UK benefited from our education workshops:

LEISTON, SUFFOLK – two-day project culminating in a performance at Leiston Primary School

MARLBOROUGH, WILTSHIRE – ‘Buddy’ project alongside Marlborough College, culminating in a performance at the College

LONDON – week-long project exploring music for film, culminating in a workshop at the BFI Southbank

COUNTY DURHAM – SbS was invited by Samling to take part in a week-long project, culminating in a performance at the Durham Gala Theatre

YORK & NORTH YORKSHIRE – week-long project culminating in a performance at the National Railway Museum in York

“It was an amazing and wonderful project – one of the best I’ve ever seen.”
Ursula Ovenden, Headteacher,
Archbishop Primary School, Lambeth

“I had a lovely day and wish I could go again and again… I wish I was in Southbank Sinfonia.”
Leiston Primary School, Pupil

“Thank you for the fantastic opportunities that were given to music making in York over the past week. The event was a knockout and the whole process was a rich experience for all the schools involved.”
Tim Brooks, Arts and Culture,
City of York Council
