Australia
If you are applying from Australia, this year we will have a day of auditions hosted on our behalf by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in Sydney itself on Thursday 13 August. To be considered for an Australia audition, you should simply submit your application in the usual way by midday on Wednesday 01 July and further information will be sent to you if your application is shortlisted.

New Zealand
If you are applying from New Zealand, our Music Director Simon Over will be holding auditions in Dunedin on Sunday 9 August. These will take place at Southern Sinfonia, Carnegie Centre, 110 Moray Place, Dunedin. You may like to travel to Dunedin on Saturday 8 August and we can recommend cheap accommodation if required. There will be an opportunity to rehearse with Southern Sinfonia’s designated accompanist on the Saturday afternoon if you wish. Some financial support may be available for those travelling some distance to Dunedin. For more information, email us at auditions@southbanksinfonia.co.uk – and you should apply in the usual way, submitting your application by midday on Wednesday 01 July.

Asia
This year, for the first time ever, Southbank Sinfonia is travelling to Asia to perform at Hong Kong City Hall on Monday 21 September. Part of our visit is to let more of Asia’s many young musicians know about the opportunity available to them to come and be part of our unique programme in London next year or in future years. As a result, we plan for our Music Director Simon Over to give a select number of auditions in Hong Kong during our visit in late September.

Owing to this exceptional visit, we are therefore extending the application closing date for any eligible musician from Asia until midday on Monday 24 August. This applies to musicians originally from Asia, regardless of whether you are living there now. You should apply in the normal way. You will then be considered for an audition in Hong Kong in late September but please do not worry if you are unable to visit Hong Kong for this: we will still consider the possibility of arranging a remote video-conferenced audition for strong candidates. Of course, if you are now based in Europe and prefer to audition in London, please apply in the normal way by our principal closing date of Wednesday 1 July.

If you are an Asian musician and have any questions, you are warmly welcome to contact us at auditions@southbanksinfonia.co.uk
