(with music by Dag Rosenqvist)
Alexander Whitley Hertz
(with music by Hildur Gudnadottir)

In 2002, Wayne McGregor (now Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet) created an evening of work for his company in collaboration with dancers from The Royal Ballet. Ten years later, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance returns to the Linbury Studio Theatre with works by rising choreographers Robert Binet, Alex Whitley and Paolo Mangiola.

Royal Ballet Choreographic Apprentice Robert Binet’s new piece Life’s Witness examines states of ‘being’ and ‘non-being’, and explores how other people act as witnesses to our lives. Alpha Episodes by Paolo Mangiola has been created for Edward Watson, Eric Underwood and Paul Kay from The Royal Ballet, and examines new expressions of masculinity. The work is set to a lyrical electro-acoustic score by Swedish composer Dag Rosenqvist, blended with text from The Waves by Virginia Woolf. Hertz by Royal Ballet Affiliate Choreographer Alexander Whitley is a piece for eight dancers and explores scientific theories of light, set to music by Icelandic composer Hildur Gudnadottir.

A quintet formed of Southbank Sinfonia alumni will join the performers on stage to provide musical accompaniment.
