Ever since his first performance with a full symphony orchestra, Hannes knew music was something very special and powerful.
From an early age, Hannes dedicated a lot of time to music, from playing the recorder, singing and playing horn in a marching band.
Originally from Austria, Hannes gained his BA (horn) at the Mozarteum Salzburg, an experience which proved vital for his classical training. He gained a lot of experience playing Principal Horn with Junge Philharmonie Salzburg and Wiener Jeunesse Orchester. Tours to Spain, Italy, Germany, France and China were the perfect opportunity to broaden his horizons.
Hannes decided to change settings and study in London at the Royal Academy of Music. He was delighted to be given the opportunity to study with Michael Thompson, Richard Watkins and Martin Owen and completed his MA (horn) in 2010. Throughout the two years spent at the Academy, he played with a number of orchestras including the Britten Pears Orchestra, Bloomsbury Opera, Ashover Festival Orchestra and the Beethoven Ensemble.
Whilst in London, Hannes developed a keen interest in contemporary music, playing with the London Contemporary Orchestra and being selected to attend the London Sinfonietta Academy, with a final performance under conductor Elgar Howarth. In addition, Hannes founded the Ellipsis Woodwind Quintet which won the RAM Nicholas Blake Prize.
Aside from his hectic performance schedule, Hannes enjoys outdoor sports, especially snowboarding and rock climbing.
