Abbey Edlin

Music has been the driving passion of Abbey’s life from an early age, and she is very excited that her love of music has eventually lead her all the way to London. She is a long way from home this year, having only recently moved from New Zealand to join Southbank Sinfonia.

In 2007 she graduated with an Honours degree in Performance French Horn from the New Zealand School of Music. Since completing her studies she has been working hard to gain further orchestral experience, working as a freelance musician with all four professional regional orchestras in New Zealand and also the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

In 2009 she gained a position in the Sydney Sinfonia, an orchestra made up of mostly graduate students throughout Australia. She travelled to Sydney a number of times to perform with them, and learned so much playing in an orchestra made up of enthusiastic, talented young musicians, that she decided to take the plunge and audition for SbS.
