Southbank Sinfonia has teamed up with cellist Raphael Wallfisch to present a new version of Schumann’s cello concerto. The concept was initially suggested by Schumann himself, but it’s taken 150 years for the composer’s wishes to be carried out. This new version was prompted by Raphael Wallfisch, who explains why it’s always joyous to find new repertoire for the cello, even from such an old source.
